Racing from a Stop or from a Roll?

I was wondering what everyone likes best.
i like going from a stop, mainly becasue i have awd (which isnt too bad from a roll either) but also because its easier to find people to race (for me at least).

Re: Racing from a Stop or from a Roll?

I like launching my MR2, I wouldnt call it easy but its definately frequently my edge in a race. So I vote for from a STOP.

Re: Racing from a Stop or from a Roll?

I'd much rather race from a roll. Prolly becuase I pull 2.3 60's, but I also think its more of a comparison of the cars from a roll.

Roll...doesn't chew up tires or transmissions that way

Definitely a stop.

I (personally) would not have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on traction/suspension/readend upgrades had I wanted to race from a roll. A more "all around complete car" is needed to race from a stop, where traction and the driver's skill in launching a car come into play.

Just my opinion though.

Rob

Gotta agree with Rob. Racing from a dig shows who can drive their car. Anybody can race from a roll, just proves who's making more power. From a stop shows who can handle the power they have I'll take a roll race if that's all I can get, or if I just happen to be cruising down the highway and come up on someone that wants to race, but if I get a choice, it's from a dig.

Re: Racing from a Stop or from a Roll?

In the Camaro I like it from a dig, in the Cobalt gimmie a nice roll race. Roll racing is much more convienient on the streets as well, at least in Az it is. Most of our driving time is spent on the move, as apposed to sitting at lights or stop signs. Lotta open straits here.

I prefer racing from the passenger seat. You get to talk all the smack you want, and if you lose it's not on your shoulders. If you win, you get to talk more smack. You pretty much always win the races either way....

lol @ civracer95

i say from a stop, because my car has an auto tranny and from a roll it takes a second or two to realize "oh shit i gotta go!" the only car ive raced from a roll was a 94-95 mustang gt, but i still won so its all good. automatics suck froma roll, but from a dig my car kicks ass.

if froma roll was really important at all, why the hell does noone get a running start on a 1/4 mile track

I'm not picky, but I prefer from a Dig...

Haven't tried launching the Camaro yet... I'm sure that'll be interesting.

Re: Racing from a Stop or from a Roll?

I would have to go with from a dig. I don't like going to outrageous speeds. From a dig you know who won by 100 mph.
