o2 bank1/sensor1 removal?
My mpg seems to be going down, and with 105K miles on my 99 trooper I decided to replace the 02 sensors. I replaced the driver side from sensor no problem, but the passager side front sensor connector seems to be up above the transmission housing. Is there a trick to reaching the connector? It seems like I need to actually remove the exhaust pipe to reach the connector? Any hints?
-Thanks, Mike |

Re: o2 bank1/sensor1 removal?
Got the sensor replaced... Unless your 4 year-old can reach up and unhook the connector from the metal mount, you'll need to remove the right side exhaust section. It doesn't need to come out, just remove the bolts so you can move it to the side and you can reach a hand up to the connector.

Re: o2 bank1/sensor1 removal?
they make different 02 sensor sockets that make the job easier in most cases. one type is like a deep well socket with a slit up the side the wires go thru, and the other type looks like a crows foot wrench that your ratchet fits on.

Re: o2 bank1/sensor1 removal?
My problem was with the wiring harness connector. I couldn't reach it because it was attached way up above the exhaust line. Not enough room to get my arm up to disconnect it... and I really tried!
