Messed up parking brake

A while ago i tried to set my parking brake when it just didnt lock. it just went back down to the floor. so i took the cover off and it has the adjusting screw but it seems that the teeth that hold the brake up...are worn or the brake handle somehow moved so it doesnt engage the teeth. can i fix it or buy a new one? when i pull it up i can hear it hitting the teeth but it just slides right over them.

I've got the same problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't have any idea's. I was wanting to just remove the brake completely. But I don't know if I can pass for registration or my insurance.

I got some info on the parking brake and they thought it would be a ggof idea to remove the brake handle from the inside of the car, then goto a junk yard and pull one from there and install it.
