engine won't shut off
any ideas why the engine in my '67 type 1 won't shut off? I replaced the ignition switch, but nothing. currently I have to pull the feed to the distributor to shut it down.

Re: engine won't shut off
Do you mean it runs just fine with the key turned off? Or does it diesel, run rough and cough when the switch is turned off. If it diesels then it may be the pilot jet, the small cylinder looking thing on the right side of the carb. It may or may not have a wire going to it. If it's broken or dirty it could cause the run on.
If it runs fine with the key off, I don't have a clue, sorry. Good luck, Brett

Re: engine won't shut off
i had the same problem, first, try making sure your lights are off. second your coil is still getting power so that means some wires melted together and are still touching. your going to need a new wiring harness. call around i got my harness for 75 bucks brand new. its easy to rewire, it only took me 2 days to completly rewire my bug. good luck.
