Re: Ebay air intake

If you want to flow more air buy a K&N drop in filter.

Cone filters do nothing but suck up hot dirty air (see the FAQ's for more info).

Most see an increase in MPG during highway conditions and a decrease around town. I you purchase one make sure you rest your ECU (pull the battery terminals for 15 minutes) so it can relearn the new air/fuel ratios.

Re: Ebay air intake

This is my opinion and others may disagree, but I think the stock system is best. The paper filters in the stock system do a great job. Also, with the systems that require cleaning and oil, the oil, if done in excess, can cause problems. Making a switch to the other types will not give you the power and gas savings they claim, at least not from what I have heard.

i agree the aftermarket just makes alot of noise and doesnt even really make a difference. i trashed mine out of joy for an intake from a localshop and i wish 1'000x i didnt. i end up either cleaning the tubing or replacing the filter more frequently now that i know it sucks in more air. dont make the same mistake as me. there is no difference in performance other than a SMIDGET of gas milage being saved on the highway. city milage SUCKS. as far as the 10 dollar intake id leave it alone b/c alot of times the tubing will be so cheap you can squeeze it and break it.

I have a 95.5 SOHC Rodeo, I do not know about newer models but for all you guys saying it is a BS mod I disagree.

If you look at the restrictive intake setup on the 95.5 it all snakes around and finally has a VERY SMALL l opening up against the innner fender.

IT does not go through the fender it is about a 1/2 inch from the fender.

I put a Ractive intake for a civic and it bolted right up.

It made an enormous difference.
The off idle response increased dramaticly and it will now turn the tires over.

Does it suck in Hot engine air. Yes it does but so does the factory system.

The heat shield filter I put on it is now up closer to the front of the vehicle where it "may" be getting fresher air".

Once again this is on a 95.5 3.2 and that is the appliction I am talking about.

It is very loud and it takes a while to get used to but overal MPG is better and as stated before off idel response is vastly improved.

I got one a year ago and it sucks the gas around touwn, but on my highwy trips to Baja I get great mileage, and the much needed punch out of the hole when passing the big rigs on those narrow 2 lane roads.
