Re: where are all the vic experts

A lot of us belong to various forums, hold down a full time job, have family, and other things to do also. It is not uncommon for a post to go un-answered for a little while, cause, believe it or not, we have lives also. I see a lot of answers to posts that are good answers and I don't feel the same procedure needs repeated over and over. If an answer looks good to me, I let it alone and allow the poster and responder to work on it. If I see something I think needs added, I will add it.

Also to add. If the poster never responds to the answer most of us do not know why he asked the question in first place. Sometimes I feel like the people expect us to be here for them alone. I try to help when I can, and there are lots of others that help a lot more than I do. I appreciate the time the answerers spend on these sites and will never ask them to do more than thay are doing now. I supervise a fleet of over 1200 Ford, Chrysler, GM, Toyotas, Hondas, Hybrids and anything the local Police can confiscate. My day is pretty much filled and I know others are the same. So applaud the people that take time to answer and find out why a poster will ask "why won't my car start?" and never come back. This is a 2 way street, same as if you are talking to me face to face. Need good information if I am to try to answer the question. Sorry this is so long. See yao guys. ANd I will add a big THANK YOU!!! for what you do.

I am a fleet mechanic and am in charge of setting up all the new Police Vehicles in the city.I also have to work on everything from weedeaters to garbage trucks and heavy equipment. I just found this site last week and think its great I have responded to a few posts but sometimes we just don't see all the problems out there. Most of the time being a technician is 80% memory and 20% continuing education. I know they turn our fleet over about every 4 years so I have been working on relativly new cars. We run all CVPI and Expeditions for K-9 units. I have checked in here a couple of times this week because as said earlier I am busy when not working. Oh yeah I'm not an expert just sharing what i've learned

Re: where are all the vic experts

Hello fleettech. Glad to have another fleet person in here. Thought I was the only one that did this thing. Where you from? I supervise the city of Lexington Ky. Police and general government vehicles. We keep ours about 10 years and have over 1200 vehicles with 4 or more wheels up to F450. Again, glad to have you on board.

Re: Re: where are all the vic experts

I am with the City of Stillwater OK. We do Street, water,Electric, airport sanitation and Police along with other general Gov. vehicles. We also cover for the Fire department when their mechanic is off. The Electric Department contracts out maint/repairs of their hydraulics to an out side company because we are not certified to do it and that is fine with us. I think in total we have around 1000 pieces of equipment we maintain with 4 mechanics 2 service techs and 2 parts guys and our boss is there to help when we need it. could use about 2 more guys at times lately because big things are breaking right and left.
