Is this wierd (and has it been done?)

Hi I'm new.

Anyway I have a qustion about a 240sx.

I should first tell you that I'm obsessed with the s15. When I dump my civic I want a silvia and The only way I can think of is to convert a 240sx.

I alreadly realize that I'm gonna have to spend more than I'll pay for the car to get it to look that way but I feel it'll be worth it to have the only silvia within 100 miles. (live in smaller town) :smoka:

Anyway, the s15 body parts are expensive as hell and so is the engine so since I'm a college student I'm looking for a way to keep the mods (including engine) under 10 or 11k. (over two years) So since a s15 rear end conversion would be ridiculously priced, I was wondering whats stoping me from doing a s14 rear end and a s15 front? that way it's still silvia and a new rear taillight assembly is way cheaper than a new rear end.

So my question is would it look OK? has anyone done this? should I get the s14 wing or the s15 wing?

also with say.... a 96 240sx, how hard is the s15 engine/tranny swap?

All answers are appriecated and thanks in advance.

The SR20DET swap has been done to death, so it keep getting cheaper as more and more shops do it. The engines are plenty cheap since the Silvia's are old enough that they're getting chopped up regularly in Japan. The S15 front and S14 rear? If I'm not mistaken, the Japanese do this intentionally. I forget why, but it would certainly give your car an extra JDM touch.

Now I am one of those crazy people who advocate leaving the KA24 in there and turbocharging it. This will actually give you more power and torque than a stock Silvia (which is what you would end up with after spending 3k on the SR20)! You can then do what you like with the body. I had a great idea the other day for a 240/Silvia conversion. Instead of trying to pass it off as a Silvia, you just cut up the 240SX badge on the rear, and put an S15 lightning bolt S in place of the S in 240SX. I think it would look really cool, and Nissan/JDM car fanatics would get it. Just an idea.

I don't think swapping different generation engines and transmissions and bodies is a big issue. Maybe somebody who has actually done the swap could enlighten us?

lol

3k for a Silvia engine? you can get them for less then that. I would rather have the sr20 then the ka in my car, parts and support will be much harder on the KA if your turbocharging it then a turbo'd SR. Im wanting to put an s15 front on my 240sx and giving it the 180sx taillights with Silvia badges or maybe a NISMO one on the rear and the S15 Silvia badge will of course be on the hood and a GTR emblem down on grill.

Yes you can get an sr20det for less than 3k but you also have to install it. I myself would do the work but some people won't/can't. For the price of an installed sr you can have a ka with better horsepower and more torque. But to each his own.

yeah I personally don't like the sound of the KA, I raced a older 200sx with a sr20det in it and it smoked the shit outta me.

well its not if Im implying that it is a skyline or anything. But anyone who knows Nissans knows a car wearing the GTR badge is a worthy advesary, hopefully mine will be. its not going to be a stock 240 and probably won't even look much like one with a s15 front end on it, just a badge to have to show you have a bit more then a stock Nissan :bandit:

while we're on the subject about badges, I just wanted to say that I thought that one idea about cutting up the 240SX badge and putting the silvia lightning bolt S where the S in the 240 badge is, is a great idea. I saw somebody post that somewhere in here, but I can't remember who thought of it. Good Idea

hmmm....last time i saw a GT-R badge on a non-skyline was when i saw one on a Hyudai hatchback here in Houston...... bad idea dood, we laughed so hard at that retard. Plus, you dont want anyone to think its a Pontiac Vibe do you? cuz they have a GT-R model, which pisses me off too cuz when the Nissan GTO came to US they changet it to 3000gt so as to not piss off pontiac gto owners... too bad pontiac doesnt have the same courtesy.

Cutting up the 240 badge was my idea (patting self on back). Maybe someday I'll get one so I can actually do it. I wouldn't disgrace the GT-R badge by putting it on one of my vehicles. No matter how awesome they may be (or become), they still do not have the kind of history that the GT-R badge is all about. You're much less likely to offend someone in the States than in Japan, but I still wouldn't do it.

The GTO/3000GT was made by Mitsubishi. I'm not sure, but I think there was some kind of RX-7 GTO issued here. I never heard much about it, though. I wish Pontiac would send one of their camera crews here so I could be on a Vibe GT-R commercial. Hehe, they'd have to *bleep* most of it out. Fear not, people. Once the R35 gets here and blows everyone away, people will start getting their cards pulled for disrespecting the GT-R. :smoker2:
