Major transmission failure (Buick Century 2000)

Hello guys:
I am here again with another transmission problem. The car is Buick Century 2000 with 54.000 km on clock. Few months ago I have had a selenoid replaced because the shifting was harsh. Yesterday on busy intersection the car 'slided out of gear'. No response to shifting attempts by me. I had to push the car (level road) to our place of work. Had the car towed to Transmission shop which done the service on solenoid 3 months ago.
Today one automotive technician at college where I work advised me to call the dealer where I purchased the car and find out whether there is any manufacturer recall on these types of transmissions, since the car only has 54.000 km on clock.
Perhaps, maybe somebody here will know and let me know (and rest of the guys here) if such recall is existing?
The engine runs ok, but there is some noice coming out from transmission. The shop where I had the car towed thinks that some kind of pump my be the culprit.. I am really discouraged and have a second thoughs of buyng a Buick.
Othervise, the car is very comfortable, I take a good care of it. Changing oil every 3.000 km (Mobil 1 - Synthetic mixture).
What else can one do to avoid some major repairs on components which should last more than 54.000 km?
Thirty years ago I had a Pontiac Laurentian that put on the clock over 200.000 miles (!) with no problems !

Sorry to hear your tranny went out again. Thats a shame with such low mileage. Sounds like its going to need a rebuild now.

I don't know of any recalls out on the 4T65E tranny, however, there have been GM Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) out for quite a few years. The problem is is the dealer will only cover these defects while under a valid warranty whether bumper to bumper or extended. The TSBs mention PCS solenoid , TCC PWM solenoid, and the valve body, etc.

You might try contacting GM customer service and see if they'll help out.
Good luck.

Thank you Bnailor:
It is nice to know that we have here few knowledgable guys who give us a support. We need it. Esspecially if something major happen like transmission complete breakdown.
Would you have GM email adress? I would really like to get hold of them.
I am quite upset.
Thanks again
Peter
