perfomance vs handling

I know that it is a too vague question. But please respond. I really want

to know and need experienced and skilled drivers' opinions

If I have to choose the performance or the handling, what do I have to

go with? I mean, what do I have to choose if I am thinking of a car with

the brilliant handling and a car with the outstanding engine performance.

For example, rx-8 has the wonderful handling, and 350z has the awsome

accelaration but rx-8 handles better than 350z. Of course, 350z is

faster than rx-8. Without any modification, if they race in street, which

car would win after all? what if they are modded? I am not an expert

about cars and street racing stuffs so I need experts' advices. Of

course, everyone wants both. But if I have to pick one of them, what

do I have to pick?

p.s. how about rx-8 and wrx and 350z?

Thank you.

Re: perfomance vs handling

Depends on what you plan to do with the car. I for one ....have enough mods in the motor , full exhaust, boost controller, intake...I have handling also. KYB AGX, Tein s techs, Helix rear anti sway, kartboy solid rear end links....It gives me plenty of power for the street and handles pretty nicely too....my 2 cents.

-Chris......Lets just say I chose both! lol

go with WRX STi I guess (do kids still consider it one of top tuner cars like the EVO, I don't know, haven't been on the car scene lately now that I'm riding bikes). I think STi was best handling and fastest of the three, rally car inspired, go figure. althought the Z and RX-8 have classy sports car feel to it.

Re: perfomance vs handling

I think the STI will outhandle and out accelerate both the other cars but to me it is ugly. I think the RX8 is weak and really dosn't look that great. The 350z looks better than the other two by far and handles pretty well. It should out accelerate the Rx8 though.

RX-8 is slow, I'd get the 350Z. Keep in mind that you can always do a suspension upgrade to any car to make it handle better.

I think overall performance the Sti is going to be on top, then for me it would be the 350z than the Rx-8, I just dont like it that much for the price.

the STi has a controller i think that allows you to shift power front to rear, to change up the handling a little to yuor wants

the 350z will accelerate faster because better torque, the wankel is a good motor but is a hp motor, i think that it handles a little better than the Z

Yes they do...the Legacy has enough understeer as well to be honest

but I would still take an Sti over the other 2

350Z is second with a nice V6 but not great handling...Rx8 is last because I consider it a cop out performance car compared to its predecessor

Of the three I would take the STi. The RX-8 will out handle the other two but just isn't on par in the power delivery department. The 350Z is a pig and doesn't handle very well without a set of wide sticky tires. The STi will out perform the 350Z in the power delivery department as well.

Yes, the STi is prone to understeer. It is set up that way from the factory because it is far easier for a beginner to deal with understeer than oversteer. Besides, it isn't extremely hard to fix that pesky understeer problem when you're ready.
