2002 Taurus SES (Multiple Problems)

I have a 2002 Taurus SES and these are the problems I am having right now.

80% of the time when I start the car, it is squealing. Not sure if it is the belt, or a pully. Gets quieter after running for about 20 minutes. Sometimes it doesn't even make any noise when I start it.

Something is rattling on the front driver side. Very annoying. Every time I hit a bump it sounds like it is going to fall apart.

Door Ajar light never turns off, and the dome light doesn't turn on when you open the door. I am sure it's in the wiring. But same for all doors.

Fan selector only has off and high, nothing in between works.

Just started shaking really bad when you hit 60+ and pulls to the right. Breaks were just replaced. Then this starting happening about 1 month later.

Battery corrods really bad. Both posts. I can clean it and days later it is covered in white corrosion.

Just noticed with in the last 2 days I sometimes smell coolent from outside the car, but no leaks visible.

Real nice car huh? LOL

Re: 2002 Taurus SES (Multiple Problems)

Sounds like you having about a much luck as my 2001 ses

Squealing is most likely the belt. Dont buy the motorcraft replacement, it'll squeak in 10kmi( i've gone through 3). Buy a Gatorback belt.

Door ajar and lights: Known issue, soak the door latch in WD-40 on all doors. Open and close and it should take care of the problem.

As for pulling to the right and the rattle. Some thing sounds loose or broken. Could be a multitude of things: Hub and bearing assy. is loose, broken sway bar link ( common ), ball joints, tire pressure, alignment off, Tie rod ends. Could be any of those things. sorry hard to diagnose suspension with out looking.

Hope this can get you started

Sounds to me like you have a bad tire and to find out just rotate the 2 on that side of your car or take the car in and have checked. Oh and even if the tires are new a bad tire can still show up..
