Best Mufflers for 2000 GT

Hey all,

I am looking to change the mufflers on my 2000 GP GT, and am wondering about the best choice for mufflers. I am thinking of going to an exhaust shop, instead of buying an expensive Cat-Back Kit.

What I am specifically looking for is mufflers that will give me a throaty, powerful sound, without being obnoxously loud, or, loud enough to attractthe attention of my small town, bored-out-of-their-minds, cops.

So, any suggestions that you guy have would be really appreciated.

Re: Best Mufflers for 2000 GT

I was thinking about getting a Cat-Back system for my 99 GT, but there's a few choices and I don't want to spend more than $600 total. I too want a nice powerful muscle sound, and not some crappy ricer tin can sound, or just loud for the sake of being loud. You mentioned Dyno Max Super Turbo, that was one I was looking at, along with Flowmaster and maybe SLP. I've heard good things about Flowmaster series. Anyone else got opinions for us?

Re: Best Mufflers for 2000 GT

you could get mufflers, get a hi flow cat, go to an exhaust shop and have them replace the u-bend with a straight pipe and run a pipe from the resonator to the y-split or just straight to one muffler, get some tips and you'll have made your own catback system for half the price of many aftermarket systems, and the performance will still be there. Its up to you in the end, but this is definately something to keep in mind

One more thing, if I do get the Super Turbo mufflers, what should I do about the stock Resonator, leave it? Any suggestions?
