Post Transplant/ Speculation

Hey all, I'm moving myself from the Sonata forum to Tib just because the former seems dead.. Too many unanswered questions and posts.
Anyways, a guy came into work today wearing a Hyundai polo, we got to talking and it turns out he works at the new Hyundai plant. He told me that the new '06 Sonata v6 could smoke an '05 Tib SE. I haven't seen any spec charts to compare the two, but what do y'all think, was he just messin' with me?

Re: Transplant/ Speculation

well both the new sonata engines have more power than the tib engines...
but considering that this is a redsigned sonata, the new tib should outperform this sonata, tho let them have their glory now..

I think it probably would, but not by much. I have driven one and it does feel faster than a Tib. Yes, it's a bigger car, and weighs more, but it has 60 more hp than a Tib v6, and it is using a 5spd auto now. I have a Car & Driver mag at home with a 4 page article on the 06 Sonata LX, I don't remember seeing any performance numbers, but I'll try to remember to double check tonight.
