Question Starter slipping on flywheel easy fix?

I had my waterpump and motormount repaired. Actually the waterpump was replaced and the motor mount was remachined (rethreaded). The procedure requires tearing down the exhaust manifold to gain access to the timing chain assembly. This as done 3 times to finally correct the hydrualic tensioners for the timing chain which were malfunctioning at low rpms and causing timing error during a warmed up idle. This was corrected, I took the car home and let it sit for 3 days before starting it up. I spun the starter as if it didn't grab on to the flywheel maybe 3 times before it caught and started. At this point it normally takes 2 tries to start the engine. I plan to take it back to the mechanic 4 days from now when I'm off from work. BIG QUESTION since I didn't have ANY problems starting the car before I had work done to the car, is there a simple way for the mechanic to correct this condition? Like checking for the need of a shim of some sort to custom-position the starter, or will this warrant having to reposition the transmission (God forbid! labor-wise), or will I have to ditch this starter. The 1998 cavy has about 71K miles on it.

well some things to look for take off starter and look at gear

if isnt messed up try to look at flywheel while moving cranck manually

if not take starter to autozone so they can check it/ test it

now after ur job done on car this happened retrace what u did and if u move anything outta place that might be ur answer
it looks like starter is alil outta place but make sure it works right too

did u took out the starter? or mottor mount diferent place?

thos r the things to look for before taking to mechanic

First check the wiring to the starter for good connections. If they're good, it looks like the bendix drive is mal-positioned; or the bendix drive assembly needs a clean and lube. Worst case is you'll have to rebuild the bendix assy; as the drive wheel cogs are worn; or you've ground down a tooth or two on the flywheel.(not a good prospect)
Rebuilding the bendix assy is an easy task if you pay attn to detail, and should be a fairly cheap endeavour.
