Transmission
Hey I got a 1996 windstar with the 3.8 fwd auto. I was wondering what kind of trans it is and what other transmissions will interchange with it... Thanks

The transmission is a AX4S.....has AXOD stamped onto the driver's side cover. I do not know of any other transmission that would drop in there. The transmission is electronically controled.....an works with the engine PCM.....so I would think that you would need to use the same replacement transmission. There are a lot of them out there.......
