Paint Codes?

I'm trying to find the paint code for my 98 grand prix gt. i was told its four digits, and on the flap under the trunk, where the spare tire is stored but i don't see it anywhere. It's probably in the user manual, but that's sitting in a box at my old house about 160 miles away. Anyone know exactly where it's located, if at all, on or inside the car?

If it helps at all, my car color is grey. Thanks in advance?

Normally the SPID label listing all RPO codes and paint/trim is affixed to the underside of the truck lid. The paint code will be on the last line. On a lot of GM cars the label was placed on the underside of the carpeted cover which goes over the spare tire. If you don't see it in either place, then someone removed it. Good luck!

Re: Paint Codes?

Here's a link to GM "W" body which includes the Grand Prix depicting RPO codes with SPID label and explanation of paint/trim codes.

Pontiac paint codes can be confusing! For example, the color code 96/WA8867 listed on our site can be shown on your vehicle as 96U or 96L or 8867 or WA8867. Often there will be a BC CC before the color code. This stands for Basecoat/Clearcoat. The U in the paint code means the Upper Color and the L means the Lower Color. Two tone vehicles will have each color coded, i.e. 96U and say 36L. Also, it could be 8867L or 8867U.

best damn paint site i've seen, im waiting for my kit to come in so my car will be scratch free :-D

my 99 gt was 26U, so yours will probably be 2 digits folowed by a U, theres only 1 U on there so u cant miss it
