When i bought my TSi they guy told me that it didnt have a boost control at all on it(not even the stock one i guess) so anyway he said that if i try and race anyone I'll end up blowing something. So i tested this theory and sure enough if the revs go above 5k the turbo spikes at 20psi. So I have a two part question. First, Isn't it the job of the wastegate not the boost control to control turbo spikes? Second, I'm guessing that a electronic boost control would be better than a mechanical, but is it worth the price difference to get the elecrtonic one or can i get by with the cheaper mechanical one?

Re: MBC? Wastegate? WTH
You sound a little hostile. You need to realize that the reason you have no boost control is because someone removed the stock BCS. If someone ripped a part of your engine out, would you expect it to work correctly?
Yes, the wastegate controls boost. How do you think the wastegate actuator knows what to actuate and when if some dumb punk took out the vacuum lines to make it work? Get a MBC. |

Re: MBC? Wastegate? WTH
There is an even easier way. You can connect a vacuum line from the wastegate actuator to an intake manifold source (T the BOV line) and run the stock pressure - somewhere like 10psi.

Re: MBC? Wastegate? WTH
the check engine light usually only comes on if the electrical connector for the bcs is unplugged. if the lights out that might mean your bcs is still there but the vac lines aren't hooked up
