Looking at a 87 Formula need help

Im looking at this 87 Firebird Formula. Its got the 305, new gas tank, Edelbrock headers and exhaust. Very clean paint and interior. Underbody is almost rust free..engine compartment slightly dirty but I expected that. Now I took it for a test drive..very smooth ride. Brakes, gas, shift, steering all smooth. Now this is where I need help deciding. He is asking 3200$ for it. It has 110k miles. I was plannin on offering lower of course. Now do these cars have a tendency to take a shit with that many miles? If I was to purchase the car I would immediatly do a tune up and things of that nature. So do you guys think its worth it? Should I expect many problems?

It all depends on if it was amintained by the previous owners properly. Check out the steering and suspension components...ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. I had a 305 Trans-Am with an autotmatic tranny that had 225,000 miles and it ran fine as far as major issues go. The only problem it had was that previous owners ahd hacked the electrical system and that was starting to cause electronic problems. Otherwise, if the car was well taken care of and it runs great now, I say go for it.

Ya it started right up..no sputter or anything...as soon as I turned the key it started. I also took it over some unseen bumps in the road at 30mph and it rode smoother then my Grand Am with 94k miles. Seems as if it was taken care of. Has new gastank and shift kit
