I have a 1995 Ford Contour GL 2.5 Liter V6.
Problem 1. The temp gauge is reading that the vehicle is getting hot, not really over heating it gets between "AL" on the gauge, every now and then it goes past the "L" on the gauge. I have changed out the Thormastat, I have also changed out the switch for the guage. I have checked the relays and the fan is working in "low or hi". The Air Conditioning seems to be working good. I have tried it in the max postion but the gauge stays the same. I have pulled off the belt for the Water pump to check the pully on it and there is no play in it whatsoever. I have also pulled the instrument cluster and have changed it out. Problem 2. I have also recently (yesterday) changed out my factory radio to a CD player. All of a sudden I hear 5 beeps when the car is now started and it stops for a while then about 45 minutes later it does the same 5 beeps again. Obivousally, I pulled out the dash, clock, defog, ashtrey, and had to lift up the transmission level plastic peice to un clip the dash. The new CD player works and eveythign seems to be working correctly, so I am not sure. |

Re: 2 Problems Here, Getting Hot and hearing 5 beeps
Your beeping noise is prob. the radio, i would check the manual on that, or if u have an alarm system. On the fans did u say the fans worked? And also what switch did u replace, the coolant temp. switch, or the coolant gauge sender unit? Im having the same problems, I have dual fans, but they both come on at high speeds when it gets to the L and past, only time it comes on. I've replaced the thermostat {180 degree}, coolant temp. sensor{on the top of the thermostat housing}, and the fan motor for the fan that is supposed to be the lower speed. Maybe we'll hear something back that could be useful.
