Acts like brakes are sticking

I have a 95 Jimmy SLT, my problem is after driving a while, hour or so, sometimes when i slow down for red light or whatever it will act like the brakes are sticking. i figured a caliper was sticking and would replace it soon, but yesterday i noticed somthing. i do have 4X4 (which doesnt work and narrowed down tothe actuator or encoder motor im guessing) every time it has happened my 4 x4 light switches to 4lo by itself, then within the next few stops it wont go, and yesterday i heard a *clink* from under truck and the light switched from 4lo to 2hi and the truck went on just fine...anyone heard of this?

You were in 4x4 and you probably didn't know it.

You best be fixing your 4x4 system ASAP before you wear out your front end.

the front axles wont engage but, when correctly switched into 4lo it will go into low gearing just in the rear wheels. it did do the same thing again yesterday and im noticing more the 4lo light will switch on and off by itself right around the time i have the problem...i can floor the accelerator, engine seems fine it just barely goes for about 10 seconds or so

You have a problem with your transfer case encoder motor of the vacuum switch for the transfer case.

That is whats wring with 4 wheel drive, but that also causes my other problem also? i guess it makes sense if it is with either the gears or computer

That is probably why it is sluggish off the line.

The engine rpms go up until the leaking vac hose going to the diaphram get enough vac to offset the leaking loss and then the transfer case will then properly get into gear.

I would check the vacuum line going to the vacuum actuator and the actuator first.

Would this also cause the transmission to act funny? driving today after getting off the highway it wouildnt shift out of 2nd, then after parking and leaving again it would go to 3rd but not 4th and would shift between 3rd and 2nd real quick a few times...its not slipping just shifting wierd

You might need to get your tranny fluid changed.

yea it was about 90 and it happened after i drove it about 10 min...i was gonna change the filter this weekend, damn everything happens all at once

Yea, heat brings out all the weaknesses.

Flush the tranny cooler as well. It gets gunked up after a while and won't cool properly.

Still having the same problem and after searching some more i also read that my trans. oil pump may be going bad, i read that it will whine for a wile then stop arounhd 30 or so...my neighbors blazer did the same so i didnt think it was a problem but maybe we both have the same problem. could my tranny not shifting have to do with that?
