Aurora may be dying

On the way to work this morning my "96 started acting sick. First the "service engine soon" started flashing. At the next stop light I noticed a dead miss in the engine. Real ruff idle. 10 minutes later when I arrived at work, I open the hood and smoke was coming up from the rear of the engine. It smelled like oil burning. No smoke from exaust, just from rear of engine. It was also inside the car some. Could not look under car very good, but it did seem to be leaking something from around the area of the oil pan. Hope its not real serious, but I think it may be. Any ideas?

Well I pulled code "P0300" and saw it was multiple cylinder misfires so I pulled # 8 plug wire and it was not firing also # 3. So I purchased a new Borg/Warner coil pack, O'Reilley $43.00, and problem solved. Funny thing is in March I replaced plugs, wires and air filter and still had a miss so I check and found #8 & #3 coil pack was bad. i changed it. 4 months later same coil pack out again. Still under warranty.
The other problem with smoke I believe was that I have always had a slight oil leak under car so I'm thinking because under power and slightly heavy foot caused exhaust to burn a little hotter and therefore cause smoke to come from rear of engine, I hope. We'll see. Coil pack DIY change 10 min.
Another problem that started about a week ago is sometimes not every, but I mash brake pedal and its VERY hard. Any ideas?
