Help!!! Noob with clutch problem

I purchased a 1993 in very nice condition. The car was fine initially but the closer I got to home (I drove it from Florida to South Carolina) the harder it got to shift. The morning I went out to drive it and the car would not go into gear at all. With the engine off, I can put the car in gear but with the clutch depressed, the car still pulls unless I step on the brake. The clutch was releasing early initially and now will not fully disengage. I have read a thread elsewhere that the friction point is adjustable by adjusting the engagement rod under the dash.

Does anyone have any additional insite. The car only has 31K miles on it and was previously owned by a winter resident in Fort Myers Florida. Seat wear and feel of the car are consistent with the indicated milage and CarFax supports it also. I can't believe that the clutch is worn out in this short of a time. Also, if it was the clutch, I would expect that it would not fully engage rather than not fully disengaging. Any help is greatly appreciated

Just an update. It appears that the clutch reservoir is empty. Apparently, the clutch hydraulic system is leaking somewhere. I'll refill it and see if I can find the leak after bleeding the system. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

This is normally the clutch slave cylinder. They normally go out at about the age of your miata. Their is also the possiblity it is the clutch master but again most of the time it is the slave cylinder that leaks ie goes bad. You should be able to see where it is leaking to determine which and just buy a new one online or at the dealer.

Re: Help!!! Noob with clutch problem

Don't know if you are still having problems, but I had the same thing happen. I refilled the clutch oil reservoir and noticed where it was leaking, right onto the flywheel. I ended up replacing clutch and clutch cyclinder. I think I also had the timing belt replaced. Cost around $1000. Only other thing I have had go out on mine (1990) were both electric window operators.
