Organising mclaren media

Ok, I have rather a lot of photos, pictures and videos (and sounds) of mclaren stuff here.. most of it is unorganised, except for some photo organisation by car colour and/or type..

How do you guys organise your photos?

I have a fair number of photos, hundreds possibly over a thousand (I'm sure its not all that many compared to what some people here have) and want to sort it all out as quickly and methodically as possible, renaming all the files to something more convenient and easy to sort.

Considering using a mass-file renaming program or something for it, any ideas on a good one to use?

Suggestions would be welcome..
