Question MX-3 ignition problem

got a 93 mx-3 v6 dohc ,it will start sometimes and turn right back off just like you turned the key, sometimes it will run for a while sometimes not, you never know when it is going to shut off, and it want crank right back up acts just like it is getting no fire, but when it cranks it runs perfect, sombody know what this is?

The car I am buying has the same problem and it has been narrowed down to the distributor.

yup, I'd say it was the disty as well... Look on local forums to find one used otherwise get ready for a 300$ replacement.
