'97 Cherokee Question

I just bought a '97 Cherokee 2wd the other day. Ever so often, when I turn the wheel, theres a thump from the front of the car. My step-dad changed the front brakes/rotors today(they really needed it), but the thump is still there. The person I got the car from said that this has been going on for about 3 years now & that they even took it to a mechanic who could not figure out the problem. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any problems like this or maybe an idea of where to look. The car runs great otherwise. Also if anyone is parting out or knows of someone parting out one of these, I need a few misc pieces for it. Thanks for any help

Re: '97 Cherokee Question

Does it only make the noise once and does it my it whether the vechile is moving or stopped as well if it only does it when its moving and it is a repeated thumping noise then I would say that it rubbing on some thing and if it does it only once and it is moving or just stopped then I would check out the steering linkage, ball joints and tie rod. make sure that everything is tight. start there and lets us know what you discover

Re: '97 Cherokee Question

OK, I think we found the problem today. I believe it's one of the rims. My step-dad switched the rim from one side to another & the sound followed. Thanks for the help, still looking for parts so if anyones parting one out, please contact me.
