rear hatch won't open

the rear hatch (the window) on my 97 s-10 blazer 4wd 4dr won't open. The auto release is tripping but won't release. I tried the emergency release under the carpeting also, it moves to the left, but still will not release the latch. I believe the rear hatch door is also unlatched or at least partially now. Anyone have any ideas on how to open this thing with breaking the glass?

Re: rear hatch won't open

Remove the 2 screws on the tailgate handle on the inside. Pull the top hump of the plastic panel out, use a screw driver to push the latch arm to your left. More than likely the little plastic piece attached to the actuator broke off (just happened to mine last week) 50 cent replacement part.
