If it has that many miles try and drop the price, tell the guy you'll give 2,700.

Re: found an I-ROC

depending on the overall condition, if it has a good paint job, not a maco $250 spray over job, it might be worth the 3500, id offer 3000 and maybe negotiate back to say 3200 or something like that. i paid 2300 for my iroc and it was a major project, ive probly sunk an extra 5k into her by this point.

Re: found an I-ROC

Im sad to say that I am dissappointed....The interior was marginal....at least on my standards when i compared it to my car. It had to of been in an accident at some point...doors were saging...headlight switch was broken to where you could turn them on but not off without fidgiting with it....Something was rattling very bad back in the exhaust area or gas tank.....gas filler pipe was resting on the body.....so maybe that means a gas tank support is broken and thats whats rattling....he said that the tranny was rebuilt by a previous owner......but......it didnt seem to lock up.....my car cruises at 50 pulling just under 1500 rpm.....at 45 this thing was saying it was at 2200......so that it probably just the tach being messed up......tailgate latch is broken.....the list goes on to include the fender not being aligned at all and the passenger side door being pushed way in.......but anyways....the only redeeming quality was that motor........holy poop man.....it probably only has about 250hp but man! what a >>>>>>>WORLD<<<<< of difference between that and my 305. Anyways i dont think im gonna get it because it needs so many little things that will just add up to cost a lot to replace and fix. I dont have the time or patience to handle all of it. The guy said that the last owner was some kid.....That kid thought he had a hot rod and did some crappy stuff to this would be beautiful car. I just hope that this isnt an example of third gen camaros out there. If it is then im gonna stick with mine and just figure out how to be able to do a very quick, clean, and easy motor swap.

On used car lots, yes. Private owners, no.

When I was looking at Camaros and Mustangs I found that when you go to used car lots you'll see that these cars were owned by people who flogged them because of what they were, a cheap sports car.

Private owners take better care of and usually have a better all around car than a used lot.

Anyway, that car doesn't sound like it's worth the $3,500 sticker. Sounds more like it'd be better priced around $2,500.

Re: found an I-ROC

this was a private owner. But he bought it from 16 or 17 year old kid who didnt take care of it at all and tried to modify it. Im mostly worried about the fenders being out of alignment and those door hinges because they are way off. Everything is fixable other than that. But im thinking it be easier to do a motor swap in my current car than try to repair or replace everything in that car, though it would be cool to have an iroc. Like 89 said, if i had time and money id do it, but i dont have a lot of either of those unfortunetly.

Re: found an I-ROC

Im gonna go drive it again....even if i dont buy it....which i may just bite the bullet and do it....just because that was fun as crap!! Freakin fast man.....I cant imagin what an ls1 or a built motor would do if this was stock. Maybe a stock iroc isnt that fast to most of you but if you move from a 305 tbi to this.....the shock i had because of the difference was orgasmic. Sorry for going on and on about it but felt so good! *sigh* ok ill shut up now....

Re: found an I-ROC

lol no need, i remember the feeling myself, my first car was actually alot faster than the RS with the 305 TBI so it was really a step down, but i got used to it. then i went out and drove the IROC in arkansas, and man, the guy summed it up himself to his friends, "hes taken a bus all the way out here, once he drives it, hes gonna buy it."

Re: found an I-ROC

ditto with the ???

The guy said he'd bump it down to 2500. But then his wife came and she didnt like that. They both believe that they can get at least 3500 for it. They apparantley got that number from another iroc that was on autotrader for 8900. That one has about 76000miles on it. However, it is no normal iroc, and this guy ive been dealing has no clue about anything having to do with 4 wheels so he didnt understand or didnt look. The iroc for 89000 has a corvette ZZ4 motor in it with bunches of other mods. So anyways i decided to go without instead of taking the chance on discovering unseen body damage that would take too much money to fix. Maybe next time....

Heres a question....if i swapped in an L98 motor would i have to change my fuel lines? I know I would need a new fuel pump because the line pressure is at 50ish for the tpi and the tbi line pressure is only about 14 if im not mistaken. I might as well keep what i got for now and see what it would take to get a used tpi motor around here. Anyone know where there is a place to get used tpi 350 motors around the central florida area? Junk yards dont seem to have too many around my area but ill admit that i havent looked to hard.

Re: found an I-ROC

The best place I can think of for thirdgen parts in the florida area is a place called thirdgen something or other. I dont know if they have an actual business setup in florida, but they always part out thirdgens and now 4th gens on ebay.

They do operate out of florida though and their name on ebay is thirdgenparts.

Im sure you could email them and see what they've got.

Re: found an I-ROC

fuel line pressure in the TBI should also be 40psi if im not mistaken, carburated setups use the 8-12psi range of fuel pressure.
