Tube in radial tire to repair leaking sidewall
OK. I have a damaged tire. There is a bubble in the sidewall where air got betreen the reinforcement and the outer covering and now the bubble leaks. Every tire dealer tells you that the tire is shot. Do they just want to sell you something new or is there an alternative that the tire dealer won't admit? I don't know. Has anyone installed a tube successfully in a radial tire to repair a sidewall leak? I would like to hear actual EXPERIENCE!.

Sorry, but you're gonna have to get a new tire. There's no safe way to repair sidewall damage. I have heard of a trick involving a bolt, a nut, and a couple of washers, but I wouldn't recomend it.

Re: Tube in radial tire to repair leaking sidewall
I'm seconding the replacement route.
You've got structural damage to the tire and putting a tube in the tire merely takes care of retaining air, not fixing the structure. |
