2000 Chevy Venture - trouble starting

Does anyone know if there is an anti-theft system on this vehicle? I own another chevy vehicle and it did the same thing once. -- Just doesn't start and won't jump either. On the other car (a malibu) I even bought a new battery, that didn't help. Then I read the owner's manual and found out that it was the anti-theft system. I had to put the key in the 'on' position and wait 10 minutes and then it started. I bought this van used and don't have an owner's manual. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
