Re: Did Anyone Know This?

oh, actually, from the kia motors page:

Quote:
The word Kia has origins in the Chinese language with the first syllable, ki, meaning to "arise or come up out of." The second part of the word, a, refers to Asia. So when you put it all together, Kia means to "arise or come up out of Asia."

Re: Did Anyone Know This?

The word "Sportage" is not in the dictionary but we all know what "sport" means. 'Portage' is in the dictionary and means to carry or carrying; carriage, or to carry (something) over a portage; make a portage with: We portaged our canoe around the rapids. Potare is a Latin word meaning to carry or derived from the French word portage.

So, from all that I gather the Sportage is a sport utility vehicle for carrying things. Well, like the man said, . . . You got'ta name it sumpthin' . . . . Watch it suck'ah !
