Thumbs down Battery Flat Again

Over the last couple of months...noticing a problem with the car, if its not driven every few days...then battery starts going dead.....

It started happening beginning of the year.... had the battery changed.... and has still continued happening.

Battery is flat again today...took it to the parts place, and they did a test, and it passed ok....so I'm going to take the car back (when I can get it started so they can get an electrician to check the alternator....

any other reasons you can think of apart from the alternator....

I know my alarm system would use more power than others but my cousin, said it still shouldn't go flat every few days.

Currently re-charging the battery at the moment....and then I'll have to put it back in the car to re-charge the alarm. Sort of sux.... can't start the car, cause of the fuel cut off, cutting in once the battery has been taken out. want to go for drive, cause just got insurance finally

Do you have a system?...wat you running if you do?
I was running 2 15s...and had to get my alternator upgraded to i think it was 90 amps. Not cheap trust me. Imported alternator + installation, looking at 1000.

a grand? wtf? u should have bought another battery that was dedicated to your system alone and have it sitting in the boot right next to your amp(s).

Found out the problem last night....but only after the car died on the way back from stanwell...at Wattle Grove... the air con started making weird whistling noises....so I turned it off, and as I was sitting at a set of lights...heard this noise...and then...everything just shut down...no power...nothing!

so had to push the car around the corner with my mum and younger sister... we had a bit of trouble slight hill.

Thanks AJC and 12b for coming to the rescue...

took a while...but we finally figured...one of the main wires...from the fuse box that goes into the battery terminal...had totally fallen out...thats why car just shut off... so it means, AJC reckons it would have been since the stereo install...which was like last year...which makes sense..cause the batt problems started like December!

they said cap wouldnt do anything...
but getting a new battery would just drain it out as well...

quyen: i had that problem once in my parents commodore. the ground wire for the battery was loose and the car kept shutting down. the last time it was raining the engine immobiliser kicked in while i was driving along springhill rd (steelworks). took me 30 mins to figure out the problem, i just played around with the alarm wires and the car was good as new.
tannee: there are $800 competition batteries that can withstand continuous use for upto 4 hours without having support from an alternator or anything else. better than optima/odyessey

Perhaps you should turn your system down and stop using so much juice...

Grrrrr.......!!! after all that...been away a few days, and went to start the car half an hour ago, and the battery is dead again!!!!

when I'm not working I'll have to jump start it, and take it to the spare parts place, who have an auto electrician who can check my alternator.

attempted to jump start the car this morning...but the battery had gone a bit too dead, which meant the fuel cut off kicked in. Fixed that, and jumped it again, and it started.

took it to the parts place, and they got the auto electrician to check it. It seemed to be ok, he suggested just monitor it, as he said cause the chord fell out before, it probably didn't have enough charge to sustain it...and if any problems continue, I can just call him. He lives near by so that is handy. Car was driving fine on the way to work.
