Some Guidance please on 92-95 Civic
I am getting a 92-95 Civic sedan soon. I am looking for a little performance and a little looks. Im not looking for complete performance right away. I kind of want a 50/50 performance/looks if you know what I mean. Not stock but not "uber".
Would getting an intake, headers, and catback exhaust first be good for kind of what I am looking for stated above? I was looking at these headers on ebay. They are cheap but said to perform good. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...985002896&rd=1 (I dont mean to advertise but I have a question.) Do these actually have decent performance or are they just complete crap? Theres a bunch of other ones kind of like that, just differnt style/brand but near the same price range. Can you guys lead me toward some decent headers/catbacks. I was looking at DC sports headers if those ebay ones are total junk. They just caught my eye from the price. |

Re: Some Guidance please on 92-95 Civic
Which Civic sedan? An EX is almost worth fixing up, but anything lower on the food chain is a waste of time and money. IMO, get some good suspension, maybe some light exterior mods, and then save up for either boost, or a motor swap.

I agree with jcrx but if you still want to do your i/h/e go with name brand stuff. Those deals on ebay look god but you get what you pay for and that stuff is crap. I buy my parts from ebay, but i buy big name parts. I have a DC sports 4-2-1 cermaic coat header i got on ebay for 230 new. Not a single complaint.

Re: Some Guidance please on 92-95 Civic
Seriously, if you buy an EX, don't waste money on the best parts, mid grade shit will net you the same results at a quarter the cost. Why do I say this? Because bolt ons on a otherwise stock D series are very disappointing, and even more so when you spend ten times what you could have for the same thing. Get a no name short ram, or a no name cold air. Header, Airmass actually makes a good mid priced header. Exhaust look at about 300 for a decent cat back, though you'd do better getting a Dynoflow or whatever and having a muffler shop do you cat back piping.
If you get anything less than a EX/Si don't waste a fucking penny on the motor. I know a guy, spend nearly two grand bolting the best shit he could to his DX, guess what? Even with n2o he couldn't keep up with a B16A swap. Think long term when buying mods, yea, waiting might suck, but buying everything once, then decideing you really do want to go performance and buying it all again sucks even more. If you have to start modding right away start with, like I said, suspension, your car will handle better, feel better to drive, and be ready for when you decide to really start making power, plus you have some time to learn more before diving into the more expensive parts.

first things first when you have a honda or honda motor you are always gonna be busy its a fact to all honda racers plus dont half ass your car i have a ac b16 swapped an i liked it so much i bought a civic b16 swapped
one i made it switched an the other is constant but they both are turbo and hall a hell of alot a ass half assing your car will only be humiliating at street light against a car like mine. one thing to remember nothing is free an nothing good or great is cheap but good luck! |

WTF was he buying, stickers? haha, i really find this hard to believe, he must of had 2000 grand in exterior mods, and nitrous pergers, not hooked up to his engine. i think if you spent 2000 grand, and had nos. the d16y7 could easily keep up with a stock b16. but the b16 is def much nicer |

a stock b16 maybe but if it could it would only be against a stock b16
an most people are going turbo if you are on the scene you would know why i say dont half ass your car on the plus side i dont have nos but my turbo has held up its value against stock stangs eventually if you speed in your car your never gonna get enough as soon as you find out there is money to be made for doing something you love |

Get good suspension and good wheels and tires. That is what is going to make your car more fun to drive. Having it loud with 5 extra hp doesn't make it more fun, it just adds the hastle of the cops. If you are determined to do a motor mod just get an exhaust. This way it looks good and sounds good, and when you do decide to get a motor swap, you have an upgrade that will actually be better for the swap. And all you guys talking turbos need to open up. I know 4 eg hatchbacks that are running low 12's with 200 wheels hp and slicks NA. If you do things right, NA can be alot cheaper and plenty fast. If anybody is interested in this NA motor building and you are in SoCal, let me know and I can hook you up with my guy and killer deals. Yes four eg's that are running consistant 12.4's with a 200whp ls/vtec.

Re: Some Guidance please on 92-95 Civic
Thanks guys, your posts made me think over what I want to do first. I was actually thinking of getting wheels/tires first until I wanted a little more performance, but now I dunno.
And theres always the silencer to make the car less loud ;-) Anymore suggestions? Like I said for now I dont want a lot but more then stock. In the future I might do a b16a2 engine swap, but my goal is to try and find a Civic someones selling with a swap already in it. I'm guessing running a turbo in a stock engine Civic isnt too smart? How much would a decent suspension run? Like on ebay/non ebay. |

one thing i know for sure is i'll open up on green an i dont think i ever ran a 12.4 that to slow for my rush
anyways enough chit chat about whos cars are better i only compete on the line an silence is sweet. a b16 swap should only run you about $2,500.00 unless you dont have a cherry picker an you dont know where to get hooked up or what your really getting into. |

Re: Some Guidance please on 92-95 Civic
Just remember, when you buy someone's project car, you can run into their problems. You never know if they had the engine installed right, or if they beat the piss out of it. Personally, I'd never buy a car with any modifications, unless it was from a friend (even then you never know).

yeah civic spoon is right you never want to buy a swap off just any body or period because that way if you do it yourself you dont need to troubleshoot problems like valve leaks an such, not to mention you wont have to wonder how the engine has been treated. good luck with everything!!!
