valve lash adjustment

My 02' with the 2.4 engine makes a ticking sound at 1900 -2100 rpm. can the valve lash be out? or is this something else? thanks.

The lash isn't something you typically adjust. Which is the whole purpose of it being there. It adjusts itself. Valve lash doesn't make a clicking so much either.


Aaaanyways.

More likely than not hydraulic lifter buckers are slapping.




If you're just super curious, take the valve cover off and run it at idle. There is very, very little oil flow to engine heads, the only oil that will be thrown around will come from the intermesh gears. Just set the valve cover over those so the oil doesn't fly everywhere.
