Unhappy killer mudpuddle

Has anyone else had a problem with their Cav sucking water into the Engine during a heavy rain? My 03 did and Gm wants $5100 for a new Ecotech 2.2. The stock air intake is located inside the lower left fender. Is the 04's the same way?
