Olds Warranty Rust-through Protection?

Hey guys, I have an '01 GLS ALero that I'm selling and the only cosmetic "issue" it has is that the paint around the front-passenger side headlight is starting to "bubble" on the edge of the hood. It is very lightly starting to rust just a little bit where the paint has chipped off.

As I was viewing the carfax for my vehicle I realized that olds has a 6 yr/ 100,000 mile "rust through corrosion protection" plan. It states "OLDSMOBILES ARE DESIGNED AND BUILT TO RESIST CORROSION. ALL BODY SHEET METAL COMPONENTS ARE WARRANTED AGAINST RUST-THROUGH FOR 6YRS/100,000 MILES (WHICHEVER COMES FIRST). APPLICATION OF ADDITIONAL RUST INHIBITING MATERIALS IS NOT REQUIRED AND NONE IS RECOMMENDED. SEE YOUR OLDS DEALER FOR TERMS OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY."

I'm having my car in on Monday and you bet i'm going to inquire about getting a new hood for free!

Has anyone heard either way about this?

Re: Olds Warranty Rust-through Protection?

In order for them to cover it, there needs to be a HOLE from the rust, hence the word "through" in the rust-through protection part.

Re: Olds Warranty Rust-through Protection?

Hey guys just wanted to update you. I had the car in today for service on a recall of the hazard switch and I brought the hood to their attention. I called olds and they said "if the hood is rusting from the inside out it's covered". My car had some slight bubbling of the paint and I said well, if it's bubbling that means it has to be from the inside out not from the outside in because the water or air had to be pushing the bubbles up. The body shop manager agreed and said they would replace the hood for free under warranty no problem but can't get it in til August 1st.
