Two Questions: Clutch and Flywheel
Well guess what...I have to replace my clutch for the 3rd time in a year, all because I didn't get my flywheel resurfaced the first time! Oh well live and learn.
But anyways, I was thinking of lightening my flywheel by drilling holes in it, keeping them symetrical, would that be dumb?? Second, it looks like i'm gonna go for this clutch: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33564 Any thoughts on that? the car is stock.

You dont want a pucked clutch for a daily driver. Also there is no need for something like that on a stock car. Also dont even think about drilling holes in the flywheel. You are just asking for trouble that way.

Well it's not my daily driver it's my weekend car that i've been driving daily lately lol...I know it's a much harder clutch, that's what I want, i'm so sick of my clutch slipping I don't want there to be any chance of slipping again!!!!

There are PLENTY of full faced clutches that will hold power. If you get your flywheel resurfaced, or even a new one, then you should have no problem with the clutch slipping. I am running an ACT full faced clutch. It has 400ft lb hold capacity. My car will never that kind of power but the clutch is great. It is just a little stiff but nothing I cant handle.

I agree also, a 6 puck is Way overkill for any stock car... like said above there is PLENTY of full face clutches that car handle lots of power.

hmmm I know very little about 6-puck clutches so i'm probably gonna have to take your advice....is it really that bad? what would it feel like? wouldn't it just be harder to push the clutch in and easier to stall at low rpms?

Its not like that. A 6 puck is not slippable like a full face. If you try to slip it then its not going to last 10k miles. Also engagement is there or its not. Again having to do with no being slippable. I know two people personally who went with 6 pucks and seriously regretted it after driving the car for a week.

well I personally have had the RPS 6 puck clutch in my car. After 2 years of driving my car on the stock clutch, I replaced it with the 6 puck....and when I picked up the car from the shop, it literally took me 5 minutes to get it out on the road! I kept killing it. The clutch is VERY VERY touchy. You either drop the clutch fully with the rpm's up, or you are going to be jerking your car off the line. About 1-2 months later, the clutch broke.
I do not recommend the 6 puck clutch unless you have 500+ AWHP. Also, that clutch on eBay is junk anyways. $190 for a 6 puck clutch? that's very inexpensive. the RPS clutch cost me just shy of $600. The stock Mitsu clutch is $300 from 3sx, so I dunno...

If you check 3si, there are SOOO many threads about clutches...which are good and which to shy away from. Don't know if it'll help, but you may wanna take a quick look at some of their reviews to better find what suits your needs.
