When you're done making a german pencil out of it, come pay a visit to my jetta and finish off the box of ammo. I found an ECU place on ebay as well. They're located in Florida. They take yours as a core and refurbish/test them and resell. The buy it now price was like $230. I'm considering that route. I've been reading a lot about the onboard diagnostic systems on these european cars - they're very smart. Their protocol is superior to OBDII by means of what all is included in the sensory/monitoring system. OBDII is more concerned with emissions whereas the vag-1551 or 2 is interested in everything from the dash board lights to the tire pressure. Anyway - keep posting, misery loves company. |

Glad you found the problem - that really nails it down for me. I bought a new distributor thinking it was the cam position sensor since that's happened to me before, but it wasn't bad so, no change. I'll be purchasing a refurb ECU this week and I'll keep my fingers crossed. THanks a million my friend, I'm happy for you.
