need help installing a tach
ok i have a '88 Civic hatch that a friend gave to me, there is a tach on the steering column, but it doesnt work, there is a green wire connected to the alternator i think, and then there is a red, white and a black wire, i have no clue where those wires would go so could i have some help?

well as for what i cna pull off the top of my head having done alot of electrical. youve got a ground, tach power, and light (illumination)power. as for the colors well i dont have any idea right now which goes to which but as a rough guess i would say that black is ground and red is the tach power and the white is the illumination power.

green goes to a tach signal either near the distributor or behind the guage cluster, red is power, black is ground, and white is lights.

Green will hook up to a blue wire on the distributor, you can hook up the red one to a spade connector in the fuse box under the dash, black is ground, and hook the white one up to something that runs through the dimmer so it's the same as your dash lights.
