Power window problem
I have a 1999 Jimmy SLT 4x4. The driver's door power window stopped working. All other windows work and all fuses seem to be fine. It is stuck in the "up" position (which is better than down). When I press the switch, it just makes a clicking sound with about two clicks per second. Does anyone know what the problem might be based on these symptoms? Is it the switch or the motor?
Thanks! |

Re: Power window problem
Had the same problem. Had to replace the switch in the door. It should just pop out. Don't remember what I paid.

Hixie00 (or anyone else),
Thanks for your reply and information. I did attempt to take the switch out a couple weeks ago. The armrest where the control switches are did pop off fairly easily. But I'm having trouble getting the wires unplugged. I think they have those fancy tabs to keep them securely in place but it's difficult to see how they come apart. I didn't want to force them too much either. What is the trick to getting the plugs unplugged? Or will the whole switch assembly pop out of the armrest itself? I was able to get the power mirror switch unplugged but the window switches are a bit trickier. It's hard to see clearly down inside there and to get any tool in there to work it loose. |
