2000 Windstar sputtering on Hot
My wife's 2001 Windstar (71,000 miles) has an occasional problem. The car idles eractically and stalls after highway driving on exceptionally hot (90 degree plus) days. There are no codes reported. Have any of you all expierenced similiar issues and have any potential solutions?
Thanks in advance for your assistance. John |

Re: 2000 Windstar sputtering on Hot
Does your van have the fuel temp sensor? I don't know which year the fuel regulator and return line were eliminated and the fuel delivery system became a "single line" system. If your's is single line (has the fuel temp sensor), I would suggest replacing or testing said temp sensor.

If that does not work.....are you "using" any coolant....as in having to add to the overflow bottle? If not....OK..... If so...you might add some Bar's "stop leak" to the radiator when the engine is completely cool (not to the overflow bottle).

Thanks for the comments.
We are not loosing any coolant, and it doesn't happen regular enough to suspect the failure in the cooling system. This has only occured one lsat year and one this year on super hot Michigan days after a drive from Ann Arbor or Commerce (50 miles or so). I'll check into the fuel temperature sensor. Thanks again.
