Want to upgrade from 97 to new body style

But Im wondering what broblems poeple have experienced in the 2000 and up tahoes/suburbans. My 97 Tahoe 4x4 has put me in a financial disaster. I had to replace just about everything but the wheels and it only has 93k on it

I cant afford a brand new one, so Ill probably buy used with about 80k on it. Is there anything I should be aware of on these new body style SUV's?

Thanks for any help.

I have a 2000 (new-style) w/75k on it. No real problems though it seems to require a throttle body cleaning about every 20-30k miles. Otherwise it tends to stumble at idle. It has the 5.3L. I also had the clunking with the intermediate steering shaft, do a search here and I'm sure you'll find a good bit. Other than that it's been a good vehicle.

It's been a better vehicle than my last one (1998 C1500 5.7L) which went through just about every engine part except the engine: alternator, water pump, master cylinder, fuel pump, windshield wiper circuit board, radio lights went out, power mirror switch went out, constantly crappy brakes.... I've had none of those problems with this one and think it has a little better build quality.

I think you'd enjoy it, the 5.3L has a quicker throttle response than the 350 (you don't have to push the gas as hard) but the 350 felt marginally stronger at low revs. I think the transmissions are basically the same as the old-body styles and I never had any problem.

Give them a test drive, if you liked the old styles you like the new one.
