LS1 - Block

i was browsing http://www.sdpc2000.com/ and i came accross this engine block "7.0L LS1, 4.125" Bore, C5-R Aluminum Cylinder Block" http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/1978...nder-Block.htm and i was wondering if you build up on this block for max performance, would it be street legal? im pretty sure it wont be but i maybe wrong. does anyone know for a fact?

there's nothing wrong with a modded 427 on the street. I don't know the exact laws, but it takes a lot of power to not be street legal. this seems like a question for law enforcement. I'm curious myself, though.

Actually , now that I think about it. I think he is building a iron LS1 block but I am pretty sure its a 7.0 . I am sure he will see this thread soon and fill us in.

She actually loves stuff like that. I have put hats on her before and she has left them on the whole day. Yet with stuff like don't eat my socks she could care less.

Mine is an iron blocked 4" bore. 402ci or 6.6L (roughly). Stroker crank.

427 outta the LS1 needs a resleeve. That gets WAY expensive.

You can make a 427 streetable. It depends on the cam for the most part.
Mine will be streetable. Not exactly legal, won't pass emissions. But if I put a VERY mild cam in it, it would probably pass.
Hell, it wouldn't pass the sniffer now with the smaller LS1 cam in it. Too much overlap.

so it would never pass emissions? but what if you put like really crappy cat on there, one that is really restrictive... swap out the high preformance cam for a craper one of those, it still wouldnt be possible?

Do you have to pass emmisions in colorado though?...I know in Kansas you don't...

Yes, I have to pass emissions here in Colorado.

I figure I have the stock LS1 cam here, that should be enough to get me past. I will have gutted cats, so I will have them, those are just a visual check. Stock cam in a 402 should have little emissions. Car will also run like poo. No power.

My friend is exempt from Emissions. they cant fit his car over the rollers (90 (i think) trans am smokey and the bandit II) so he got a waiver. really not fair
