05 Mustang GT vs E36 M3

Obviously the GT would own from a dig, but from a roll, which do you think is faster? Also, if the cars are close from a roll, would an intake/exhuast/chip be enough for an E36 M3 to edge out the stang?

Re: 05 Mustang GT vs E36 M3

I've been in an '05 GT 5spd and they're pretty fast, but its hard to say since the M3 is fast as hell too.

the gt wouldnt "own" the M3 from a dig, it would beat it but definately not own it, but from a roll, dpends on what mph roll umm i think it would be close, but i think the gt would take it, but the M3 would "own" the stang in the twisties!

Re: 05 Mustang GT vs E36 M3

From a dig the 05 should take it by between a whole second or half a second even if its an auto stang the new ones are a 5 speed and from a dig they perform nearly identical to the manual. From a roll it may be a little closer but I think the Stang will still take it.

Re: 05 Mustang GT vs E36 M3

i thought mustangs had crappy top ends? maybe that's just what i've been hearing but i think the M3 (being the autobahn cruiser) would take it from a roll IMO

Re: 05 Mustang GT vs E36 M3

It was that 5.0 that gave the mustang the reputation of having a weak top end. They are definately made for a dig but the 4.6 has most of its power in the upper RPM range.

Do you guys think some light mods on the M3 might even out the score? Stock the M3 only has 240 hp and 238 tq, but the addition of some simple mods such as chip, exhaust, HFM, etc. can raise it to about 270-280 hp and 260-270 tq, in addition to raising the rev limit and removing the speed limiter. Yes, I realize the GT can be modded much more easily than the M, but from a price standpoint I could buy a lightly modded M for the same price as a stock 05 GT. So now which car would be the winner?
