Re: Re: Another GTR for sale in Geneva!
SO tell me, what exactly is the story with the different colors of locknuts on the LM's? (weel lugnut) Some are red and some are blue, while most of the conversions, or what appear to my "McLaren Id'er in training" eye to be conversions all have the stock grey nut.

The red and blue locknuts signify the left or right side, as the threads on the wheel stud are reversed on one side (left I think). Having different colored wheel lock nuts on a racing car (as is common in GT racing) keeps someone from trying to put the wrong one on the wrong side during a fast wheel change on a pit stop.
The silver ones are just silver to keep people from asking why they are different colors like people seem to do so often with the Carrera GT, which has the red/blue ones as well. The standard F1 still uses reverse threads on one side, as do all cars with a center locknut fastener that I know of. I hadn't noticed that any of the GTRs which have been converted have had their wheel nuts changed. GTR #07R still has the red/blue ones as of the most recent set of photos I have seen. The same is true of #11R - still with the red/blue. Incidentally, I checked on the dates from the photos in the above link, and a few of them date back as far as May 2002 on my hard drive. >8^) ER |

Re: Another GTR for sale in Geneva!
That's Larry Kinch's car #007R (the one I drove in). Location is indeed in England (although Larry's based in Aberdeen, Scotland).
And I have heard that it would be sold if someone offered $1.3 million, as opposed to the (thanks xe.com!) $1,622,052 they're quoting there. Also, it's NOT a one owner car. Larry bought it from a guy in France (Paul Picard?) in 1998.

Too be honest, all I recall is Larry mentioning IIRC he bought the car from someone, IIRC, called Paul Picard in France. That's all I know I'm afraid. However, it is a fecking IMMENSE car to have a drive in!!!
