Buying a Steering Wheel?

My current steering wheel on my 97 civic is getting pretty worn down. Especially at the top it feels real crappy. So I was thinking about buying a cool steering wheel to replace it. But I dont think that some of those aftermarket steering wheels can have airbags in them. How bad of an idea is it to buy one of those wheels, and also how hard is it to install one. The main question is: Buy an aftermarket wheel?, or replace it with another stock wheel?

Re: Buying a Steering Wheel?

You shouldn't ask us this question. Do you want an aftermarket wheel or not? You know the repercussions of not having an airbag. Is that a risk your willing to take? Is your car all decked out that it would require the stylings of an aftermarket wheel such as say Sparco? I would advise against it. Installing the wheel is easy as for your other question. Whos ur insurance under? If it was to be...your parents I'd run this buy them first. If not well the choice is yours but there are no benefits of removing your airbag.

Buy a stock weel from a junkyard, I would advise against removing your stock airbag equipped wheel. For one, it's against federal law. If you think insurance hates modified cars now, wait until they learn you removed the airbag. They'll drop you faster than a rock. Replacing the wheel is pretty darn easy.
