98 blazer

I have had a thumping noise coming from the rear end for a while. It happens when I am going forward and gets worse upon acceleration.
It does not make the sound in reverse. Any ideas what this could be. I was told it could be the spider gear or side gears. Or possible Rear Diff. bearings????????
