I had started a group for the Mercury Owners that had cracked plastic intake manifolds on their 4.6L engines. There are class action suits in a few states so far, one attorney is taking it to a national level if possible.
So join up if you want more info or are interested in finding recourse for your woes. You need to have a yahoo profile. I screen all applicants to keep out potential Corporate Ford snoops and lawyers.
There has been recent activity on the group as Ford is going to make good on the issue to ward off a potential $100 million class action suit. Save those parts and receipts. Reimbursement details are not complete, they will be posted on the yahoo group. The initial Ford offer is $735 if you have NO receipts, so I imagine it will be substantially larger with all the support paperwork and defective parts.
Initially Ford was only taking care of 4.6 liter manifolds on fleet service vehicles. The action is being expanded to encompass Mercury and Lincoln models.
