Lightbulb Forums Suggestion

Well, I was roaming about through AF and came across the Mitsubishi Eclipse forums. And what I noticed there was that they had combinded the Plymouth Laser, Eagle Talon, and Mitsubishi Eclipse forums all into one. Obviously, of course, because all 3 cars are nearly identical. So I kind of wondered to myself... why don't the Camaro and Firebird forums combine? I mean, you can't say that you've never ventured over to Firebird forums to see if anyone's posted anything interesting. Heck I venture over here all the time, mainly because the Firebird forum has sort of a "ghost town" feeling to it since no one really posts much over there anymore. It just makes a little more sense to go ahead and combine the two. Seriously, we've all got the same brand of engines as one another. And personally, It's gets annoying traveling between both forums. It's not that its a hassle. It's more of an inconvience if anything. Heck, I noticed Formula posted this thread "Some engine bay pics of the new engine and a couple of clips to come soon" in both forums. Seems like it would have been easier if it were just one forum. So what do you guys think?

btw.. I didn't bother posting this in the Firebird forum. As I said before, It's almost like a ghost town there and it seems like most everyone over there has migrated over to the Camaro forum anyway. So I'm sure the regulars over there will see this as well.

Re: Forums Suggestion

this has been brought up before and was voted against, but that was when both forums were quite active. I don't see anything wrong with linking them both together. The way i'd do it is have a link for "F-body" in both chevy and pontiac's main area that goes to the same forum, and just have a subforum for firebird and camaro.

and under those subforums you would have 3 subfourms the performance, non performance, and problem diagnosis? im cool with it, FormulaLT1 maynot like it tho, he wont be able to post stuff twice.

LOL if everyone wanted to combine I would be ok with it but not that long ago we had a poll and most decided against it. This is the slow time of year for AF because of the weather. So popular forums that are very active even if they slow down you don't notice that much cause they are still pretty active but other forums that were not as active when they slow down its almost to a crawl. Come winter when everyone is stuck inside again it may go back to how it was IMO

Re: Forums Suggestion

I am just explaining why the firebird forum is slower than before not making a blanket statement about everyone. Part of my job as a moderator is to make sure to make changes to the forum according to what you guys want and if this is something that all of you want now I am behind it but I think they are both very popular cars and deserve there own forums but I am not a dictator her (may be a dick but not a dictator) so its completely up to you guys.

Re: Forums Suggestion

Well a few members are away now that I know of. I will add a poll to this next week so all the forum members can get a say in it.

Re: Forums Suggestion

i think there should be a "for sale/trade" section also... just like on thirdgen.org.... that is very useful.

Re: Forums Suggestion

I agree with the classified sub forum 100% and also think we should have a off topic sub forum as well so it doesn't clutter the main forum. As for letting the poll run for 2 weeks, I think a 1 week poll starting next week will be better cause the admins haven't been around lately and it will give me a chance to run this by them first.

maybe have a general F body forum, a performance forum, trouble shooting forum, all of which both camaro and firebird owners go into, and then have separate non performance forums(for stuff like which wheels look better and body mods and crap like that since they just look different)?

The classified would be great. I agree 100% too. I gotta a berlinetta in the back that is just sitting there, collecting dust. Word, the poll is next week, i hope it goes through well.
