engine knock

i just got my engine built and it was fine...i ran it for a few days everything was goin good....didnt hammer on it cuz its the break in period....but on night i parked it out in front of my house...it rained that night...first time the car saw rain...(donno if that could causze n e thing) and i went to start it the next morning and there is a knock in the engine...its comin from the drivers side...cant figure it out...wondering if n e one out there may be able to point me in the right direction on what it could be

I'd say something in the ignition system, split wire, boot, something like that?

only thing i can think of is that something wasnt proporly torqued down. and worked itself loose, if thats what it is youre gonna have to remove the engine and tear it apart again.

A knock could be from a lot of different parts, the speed, the severity and if it fluctuates can help you get an idea of what it could be. If you rev it up a little does it get louder when the engine is slowing down? If it gets quieter under load it is probably a crank or rod bearing. Or it could be something in the valvetrain. hook up a timing light and watching the flashes in relation to the knock. If it knocks every flash, it's probably a lower end bearing, every other flash, probably valvetrain. Is your oil pressure where it was before the knock?
