Air Conditioning Blows warm until you start driving

The AC in the truck is blowing out warm when you aren't moving. Once you start moving the air cools off. When you stop it starts blowing warm again. Any help is greatly appreciated.

that's normal, you have to get the a/c pump going before it gets cold

NO...we have owned the truck for 3 years and this is a new problem. Before you could start it up and it would blow cold as long as you wanted. Here in Texas we do this to cool the vehicle off before we get in it. However, now the AC will not blow cold until you have been driving about a mile or 2.

Anyone else?

It should get cold almost immediately.
Is the refrigerant charge low?..if not check the compressor cycling switch.

It SHOULD get cold almost immediately but it does not. Checking the compressor cycling switch involved what? Also, why would the compressor not cycle on until you start moving?

Check your charge level. Check your fan at the condenser. Make sure the condenser isn't obstructed.

Re: Air Conditioning Blows warm until you start driving

You need air flowing through your condenser to cool it. It does when you are moving and the fan would cool it when you are stopped. Sounds like the fan to me. Pop the hood, turn on the air and see if it is runnung.

Re: Air Conditioning Blows warm until you start driving

also check the Condensor Fan fuse .... My 02 popped a code that said it was the Condensor fan relay once ... it wasn't the relay.. dealership said it was the fan and wanted big $$ to replace it ... I took it home done a check myself just looking for stupid stuff and the fuse was blown.... just a thought...

Re: Air Conditioning Blows warm until you start driving

To test - mist a garden hose spray across condenser at idle- see if cooling improves- this will verify lack of good airflow across condenser- and the need to either replace clutch fan or clean condenser....

Your condenser fan is not working next to the radiator.
