1995 Cavalier: installing 6 1/2" Rear Speakers
I have a '95 Cavalier and just want to install better sony 6 1/2" speakers in the back. The problem is that I don't know how to take the metal plate part off, the rest should be easy. If someone could help me

you mean you want to remove the cover, the carpeted thing that goes over the rear speakers?
You need to lower the back of the seat first. You'll see 4 plastic circles about the size of a coin. Pull them out straight. Find a way to keep them straight while pulling them out or you may damage them. Also pull out the side plastic trims from both sides if necessary. On my 97 cav everything is without screws (clips). But anyway dont use too much force. Look at the hole from where the seatbelts come out. Now look under the seatbelt and you'll see that there is a place just under the hole to slide them out. Now you may slide out the cover to reveal the speakers. If something sticks when you slide out the cover, it may be the sound-dampening material getting caught in the metal beneath. If you use force you may rip it off (like I did). But no worry, if you do rip it off, you'll just have to glue it back on the board with any glue. Really no big deal. I'm sorry it may not be too clear, but english is not my 1st language. |
